Crimes were committed in Fronteira, Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon and Sintra in the last two years.
Acouple, aged between 55 and 60 years, was arrested in Evora on suspicion of several crimes of fraud and usurpation of functions, revealed the Judicial Police (PJ), this Thursday, in a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto.
According to inspectors, the suspects swindled “people with some vulnerability, elderly and immigrants in precarious situation in our country” in thousands of euros. The crimes were committed in Fronteira, Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon and Sintra, in the last two years.
During this time, the couple, using the identity of a lawyer and taking advantage of the relationship of trust they had with the victims, offered alleged legal loans to prepare rental contracts, contracts with telecom operators, requests for legalization of foreigners and others, “charging the respective fees”, according to the PJ, and “without solving anything”.
The detainees have been, however, present to the first judicial interrogation, having been applied to them the measures of coercion of bi-weekly presentations and prohibition of contacts with the victims.
