The victims were 12 and 13 years old at the time of the crimes, as reported today.
Between May 2022 and April 2023, the Portuguese man abused the girls “numerous times and almost every day, taking advantage of the absolute trust” his partner had in him — they had been together for over ten years — when she left the children in his care.
The man exploited being alone with the girls at home to touch them inappropriately and even penetrated them vaginally.
In April 2023, one of the girls disclosed the situation to her mother, and following an argument with his then-partner where he accused her of being the one who went to bed with him, the man left the house.
The mother filed a complaint two days later, and after his arrest, the man was kept in custody.
The Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) dismissed the appeal of the convicted man against the Provincial Court of Ourense’s sentence, which imposed a prison term of 14 years for each of the two charges of continued sexual abuse of minors under 16, in addition to prohibiting him from contacting or approaching the victims for 24 years.
