João Bento spoke at CTT’s Capital Markets Day 2025, during which the management team is unveiling the strategy and objectives for the 2026-28 triennium.
“It is our strong conviction, I would say it is my absolute personal certainty, that the current funding model for the Universal Postal Service will no longer be viable after 2028,” the executive stated.
The CEO of CTT justified this conviction by noting that volumes are “falling so much” that prices will become “disproportionately high.”
As a result, “there is a need—and we have been working on this consistently—to find new ways of financing” the universal postal service (UPS).
“This is one of the things that, in that regard, needs to be done and initiated over the next strategic period,” João Bento added.
CTT aims to achieve leadership in Iberian e-commerce logistics for the triennium 2026-28.
