
The Portuguese Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) announced today that the free electricity market added 7,258 customers in August compared to July, while the regulated market saw a decline of 3,828 customers, totaling 822,069.
During the same month, approximately 69,000 customers switched providers within the liberalized market, and almost 4,000 customers moved from regulated supply to the market.
By the end of August, consumption in the free market accounted for about 95% of total consumption recorded on the Portuguese mainland.
In terms of market share, EDP Comercial maintained its position as the leading operator in the free market by number of customers (59.6%) and consumption (37.8%).
In the industrial customer segment, EDP remained the top marketer by consumption share (26.5%), while Iberdrola led in supplying large consumers (26.1%).
