Daniela Mercury at the AgitÁgueda festival. Expected 1 million visitors

With a diverse artistic program and free entry, Águeda becomes vibrant with colorful umbrellas and lively with living statues, described as a festival for families.

Beyond Daniela Mercury, the lineup features Fernando Daniel (July 11), Jorge Guerreiro (July 15), Diogo Piçarra and Father Guilherme (July 19), Quinta do Bill (July 20), and Delfins (July 26), concluding with a fireworks display.

“Agitágueda has reached another level,” noted Águeda’s Mayor, Jorge Almeida, reflecting that “years ago, Águeda lacked a strong tourism component, and today it hosts crowds, with the colorful umbrella as its trademark image.”

More than five thousand multicolored umbrellas will hang in the streets for a festival that also includes urban art and small events, engaging around 36 local associations.

In the 2024 edition, 61 nationalities were identified among the 940,000 visitors, prompting Jorge Almeida to remark that “Águeda is increasingly a city of the world, and AgitÁgueda contributes to this.”

“The 2025 edition will continue the growth trajectory followed since the first edition,” predicted the mayor during the festival’s presentation.

Edson Santos, the deputy mayor involved directly in the organization, stated that “expectations are always high, which is also a municipal responsibility,” as it is an event “embraced by the entire city.”

“It has a fantastic impact, with a return of 6.5 euros for every euro invested, which means it will generate about eight million euros in the local economy and beyond, benefiting hospitality and dining in neighboring municipalities as well,” he said, referring to a study conducted by the municipality about the festival’s impact.
