The PSP has arrested a man in Cascais for committing domestic violence against his spouse.
The 51-year-old suspect has been dealing with alcoholism for 16 years, which has been the root of the heated arguments between the couple, according to the PSP.
Besides alcohol, the man was also driven by jealousy, daily monitoring the victim’s movements, including her work departure and home arrival times.
The man repeatedly insulted and physically assaulted his partner, using various derogatory terms, even going as far as breaking dishware, appliances, furniture, and throwing some pieces out the window. He also threw the victim’s clothes into the trash bin, as stated in a press release.
His actions did not stop there, as he repeatedly threatened to throw the victim out the window, pushing her towards it. During one of these altercations, the conflict was only defused when the couple’s adult daughter intervened to stop the violence.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday to serve a two-year and six-month prison sentence following a final judgment passed on June 9.
He was taken to Caxias Prison to serve his sentence.
