David Byrne is set to perform at the festival on July 14, 2026, as announced by promoter Live Experiences in a statement today.
The concert lineup will include not only new songs but also “classics from his solo career and with Talking Heads.” The musician returns to the festival where he performed in 2018, promising a concert led by the maestro of musical theatricality.
David Byrne is a multidisciplinary artist with a career spanning various fields. “In addition to composing for dance and theater, he has written numerous books on music theory and memoirs, and has participated in the world of cinema. He founded the label Luaka Bop, which played a crucial role in introducing South American and African artists to Western audiences,” the promoter notes.
Among the various awards he has received are an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy, all for the soundtrack of Bernardo Bertolucci’s film “The Last Emperor,” which he co-authored with Ryûichi Sakamoto and Cong Su.
Tickets for David Byrne’s concert at Ageas CoolJazz, priced between 40 and 65 euros, are already on sale.
The festival will return to Hipódromo Manuel Possolo and Parque Marechal Carmona from July 1 to 31, 2026.
Also announced for the 2026 edition are Jamiroquai, on July 18, and Diana Krall, on July 22.
This year’s festival featured artists and bands such as Benjamin Clementine, Ezra Collective, Tindersticks, Slow J, Seal, Masego, and Gilsons, among others.
Each of the seven nights at CoolJazz included four performances across three stages, beginning with the Cascais Jazz Sessions, followed by an opening act and headliner, and concluding with Late Nights.
The Ageas CoolJazz festival also offered free programming, Cascais Lazy Sundays, which took place on Sundays in July at the Jardim da Parada, in front of the venue.
