The Tax Authority (AT) has extended by two days, until Wednesday, the deadline for validating invoices for 2023 on the e-invoice portal, after constraints on the last day of the initial deadline.
In a response to Lusa, the Ministry of Finance said that the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, Nuno Santos Félix, “decided to extend the deadline for verifying and reporting invoices by two days”, after “constraints and occasional limitations on access on Monday”.
“The new deadline is therefore the end of February 28,” he adds.
According to the Ministry of Finance, technical changes are underway so that this extension can also be made on the e-invoice mobile application.
On Monday, the AT said it had received a high level of hits, which had led to taxpayers having difficulty validating invoices.
On that day, the AT admitted that “the situations reported may be associated with this high number of accesses” and that it was monitoring “this service and allocating all the necessary resources to optimize the taxpayers’ user/access experience”, pointing out that in addition to the e-invoice website, the e-invoice application is also available.
Validating invoices is one of the necessary steps in preparing the annual IRS tax return.
According to the statement released today, the change in this limit “has no effect on the deadlines for prior claims against the amounts calculated by the Tax Authority” or on the submission of the annual IRS tax return.
The annual IRS tax return begins on April 1st and runs until June 30th.
