Debate between Seguro and Gouveia e Melo watched by more than 1 million

On Tuesday, December 9, “one of the most anticipated debates of the entire series was held, between António José Seguro and Henrique Gouveia e Melo.”

Broadcast on SIC, the face-to-face “entered directly into the 5th position in the ranking of the most-watched debates, being the fourth most-watched program of the day and the second most-watched of the day on SIC, only behind the Jornal da Noite segment ‘Jogos de Poder’,” reports UM.

Moderated by Clara de Sousa, “the debate attracted a total audience of one million and 258,000 viewers, corresponding to an average audience of 775,000 viewers and a 17.3% share,” it adds.

The result placed the debate in fifth position among the 18 debates already held, “behind only the three debates featuring André Ventura (the three most-watched so far) and the debate between Catarina Martins and Gouveia e Melo.”

Despite the program’s strong performance, SIC finished the day in second place among free-to-air channels (FTA), with a 14.7% share, with TVI leading at 17.7% and RTP1 recording 10.1%.

“Among the debates broadcast last week, the face-to-face between António José Seguro and Gouveia e Melo was the most watched.”

The debate between João Cotrim Figueiredo and Luís Marques Mendes, held on December 7, ranked 10th, “with a total audience of one million and 164,000 viewers, an average audience of 670,000 viewers, and a 14.8% share,” UM adds.

In total, there are 28 debates for the presidential elections on January 18.
