The televised debates for the legislative elections resumed this week, beginning with a face-off between the President of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Luís Montenegro, and the General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), Paulo Raimundo, on Monday.
On Tuesday, April 8, two more debates took place. The first featured a discussion between the General Secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), Pedro Nuno Santos, and the Coordinator of the Left Bloc (BE), Mariana Mortágua. Key topics included defense, housing, and immigration.
In a separate debate, the President of Chega, André Ventura, faced off against the spokesperson for Livre, Rui Tavares. This encounter was marked by mutual accusations regarding immigration policies, with a focus on the impact of the immigrant population on the National Health Service (SNS). Additionally, issues related to U.S. President Donald Trump’s “trade war” were addressed.
