For an hour and a half, thousands of protesters marched through the streets from Restauradores to Praça do Duque da Terceira, in Cais do Sodré.
Music and chants of slogans accompanied the entire route, vividly captured by tourists who were surprised by the colorful demonstration.
At Cais do Sodré, near a platform of the trade union center CGTP, protesters covered part of the ground with flags, including a giant one of Palestine, and listened to speeches from some organizations promoting this solidarity action.
Isabel Camarinha of the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation emphasized the strong participation in the demonstration, both in Lisbon and Porto, showing that “the Portuguese stand with Palestine”.
“Israel persists in its criminal actions,” she stated, noting that since the beginning of the ceasefire, Israel violated the agreement over 500 times, in addition to “hindering the entry of humanitarian aid”.
