
According to information released, the SRPC reported that these incidents involved 146 operatives and 70 technical resources.
Among these incidents, 35 were tree falls, 7 were preventive risk reduction actions, 7 involved the fall of construction elements, 6 were electrical grid falls, 3 involved temporary structure collapses, 3 were danger signaling cases, and 2 were mass movements.
The most affected municipalities were Funchal (17 incidents), Machico (13), and Santa Cruz (12), followed by Calheta (6), Ribeira Brava (5), Câmara de Lobos (4), Porto Santo (2), Santana (2), and Porto Moniz and São Vicente (one incident each).
The SRPC stated that “all situations were promptly resolved by municipal services, with no injuries reported.”
The Madeira archipelago is being impacted by depression Emília, bringing strong winds, snowfall, and rain, which may be occasionally intense.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) issued an orange alert (the second most severe) for today due to the wind on the north coast of the island, with gusts predicted to reach up to 130 kilometers per hour.
This alert is in place at least until 6:00 PM, after which it will be lowered to yellow.
For maritime agitation, the IPMA issued the highest-level alert (red) from 9:00 PM today until 6:00 PM on Saturday.
