
The substitution was unanimously approved at the start of today’s plenary session, which is discussing the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026) in general terms.
On October 9, Pedro Nuno Santos announced that he would suspend his mandate last Friday, leaving parliament just before the general discussion and vote on the OE2026.
This suspension request lasts for 180 days and was justified by “compelling personal and professional reasons.”
Lia Ferreira returns to parliament after having served as a deputy in the previous legislature, taking on this role last June, replacing Francisco Assis who had been elected as a Member of the European Parliament and resigned from the Assembleia da República.
The resignation of PSD deputy Ricardo Araújo, who was elected as the mayor of Guimarães in the last municipal elections, was also approved. He is being replaced by Leandro Luís, who now assumes the position of deputy.
On the left, the leader of BE, Mariana Mortágua, returned after suspending her mandate to join the humanitarian flotilla to Gaza, which caused some stir in the room.
