A 31-year-old man, detained on suspicion of drug trafficking in Porto, was released after his family refused to accommodate him at home, where he was supposed to serve a house arrest measure.
In a statement issued this Friday, the Public Security Police (PSP) reported the arrest of the man at 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday, April 2, in the Bairro de Ramalde, Porto, while he was in possession of 36 doses of cocaine and 55 doses of heroin.
The man was already subject to a measure requiring him to report to the local police station and had been banned from frequenting neighborhoods associated with drug trafficking due to previous charges.
However, as he was not complying, a house arrest order was imposed.
When escorted to his residence, his family refused to take him in, citing habitual disputes and theft from the home as reasons.
Consequently, the detainee was brought back before the competent judicial authorities and was instead subjected to a requirement to report to the local police twice daily.
