The forecasts from last Friday, July 25, indicated that fuel prices would decrease this week. The Notícias ao Minuto conducted an analysis, and the decrease indeed occurred, but was it significant?
The price of simple diesel, for instance, fell from 1.597 euros per liter to 1.593 euros per liter between Friday and Monday, marking a reduction of less than 0.05 cents per liter.
Meanwhile, simple petrol 95 dropped from 1.688 euros per liter to 1.681 euros per liter during the same period, which represents a smaller reduction than expected, according to data updated this Tuesday by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG).
As per the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP) data, diesel was anticipated to decrease by half a cent per liter, while petrol was expected to be 1 cent cheaper.
The reduction in prices occurred, albeit not as significantly as initially projected.
It should be noted that the daily average prices are “calculated based on prices reported by fuel stations, weighted with the quantities sold in the last known period, including discounts offered at stations such as fleet cards and others,” according to information available on the Fuel Prices Online portal, which compiles data from 2,884 stations.
