The Azorean executive has adjusted the maximum retail prices of fuel, citing “recent fluctuations in the international market prices of petroleum and energy products” as the reason for this revision.
Since December, fuel prices have been on the rise in the Azores.
The price of butane gas, which had not increased since July 2021, saw a rise in January, marking the start of monthly updates under a new pricing formula.
Following a 6.6-cent increase per liter since December, the price of gasoline stabilized in April, being set at 1.580 euros per liter.
Diesel, which had increased by 10.2 cents per liter since December, saw a reduction of 1.7 cents per liter in April, bringing the cost down to 1.489 euros per liter.
The price of dyed diesel for agriculture and fishing, outlined in another decree, also decreased by 1.7 cents per liter in April.
Dyed diesel used in agriculture is now priced at 1.118 euros per liter, while that used in fishing is set at 0.928 euros per liter.
Butane gas saw a decrease of 3.3 cents per kilogram in April, across various types.
Butane gas sold to the public, in reseller establishments, in 26-liter or larger bottles, is priced at 1.862 euros per kilogram, while those sold in 24-liter bottles made of lightweight materials (up to eight kilograms of container weight) cost 2.058 euros per kilogram.
Piped butane gas is priced at 1.862 euros per kilogram, and bulk butane gas at 1.460 euros per kilogram.
The maximum prices of petroleum and energy products in the Azores are “altered on the 1st of each month, reflecting the variance in the monthly European Price (EP).”
In December, the Azorean executive raised the Imposto sobre os Produtos Petrolíferos e Energéticos (ISP) by 9.8 cents per liter for gasoline and 5.8 cents per liter for diesel.
Currently, 59 cents of ISP are charged per liter for gasoline and 40 cents for diesel.
On June 5, the Azorean executive had previously increased the ISP by 2.7 cents per liter for gasoline and 10 cents for diesel.
A similar increase occurred in March 2023, with the ISP rising by 10 cents for both fuels in the Azores.
Previously, the tax had been reduced by nine cents for gasoline and 11.3 cents for diesel in the region in August 2022, following reductions also in November 2021 and April 2022.
