The Azorean government justifies the adjustment in the maximum retail price due to “recent variations in the international market prices of petroleum and energy products”.
From October 1, the price of diesel will be 1.428 euros per liter in the Azores, a decrease of 1.7 cents compared to the previous month.
In September, diesel prices had already decreased by 1.1 cents per liter after increasing by 5.8 cents in August.
The price of colored diesel for agriculture and fisheries, as set in another order, also decreases by 1.7 cents per liter in October.
Colored and marked diesel used in agriculture will cost 1.057 euros per liter, while the price for colored and marked diesel consumed in fishing is set at 0.867 euros per liter.
Gasoline prices, which have seen less fluctuation in the Azores, show a slight increase of 0.1 cents per liter, rising from 1.595 to 1.596 euros per liter.
Butane gas, which began monthly updates in January, registers a slight increase in October, with a 0.2 cents per kilo increase (0.3 in the case of bulk sales).
Butane gas sold to the public, available at reseller establishments in bottles of 26 liters or more, will cost 1.652 euros per kilo, and 1.848 euros per kilo for bottles of 24 liters, made with lightweight materials (up to eight kilos of packaging).
Piped butane gas costs 1.652 euros per kilo, and bulk butane gas is priced at 1.250 euros per kilo.
The maximum prices of petroleum and energy products in the Azores are “changed on the first day of each month in amounts equivalent to the variation in the monthly European Price (PE) value”.
In December, the Azorean government increased the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP) by 9.8 cents per liter on gasoline and 5.8 cents per liter on diesel.
The ISP now stands at 59 cents per liter for gasoline and 40 cents for diesel.
On June 5, the Azorean government had already raised the ISP rate by 2.7 cents per liter on gasoline and 10 cents on diesel.
The same occurred in March 2023, when the ISP increased by 10 cents in the Azores for both fuels.
The tax had decreased by nine cents on gasoline and 11.3 cents on diesel in August 2022, following reductions also recorded in November 2021 and April 2022.
