Direct adjustment for medical emergency helicopters costs up to 4 million

The contract between the parties, published on the Base portal on Thursday, indicates that the maximum price to be paid by INEM to the Malta-based company “cannot exceed” 4,011,500 euros.

According to the document, the agreed value is 11,300 euros per day for each helicopter, either medium or light, operating on a daily schedule of 12 hours.

This amount covers the availability of each aircraft and the cost of flight hours conducted for emergency medical air transport, as stated in the contract, signed following the decision to proceed with this direct award on June 26.

Gulf Med was awarded the contract for emergency medical helicopter services through an international public tender that expected operations to begin on July 1, which did not happen, thus requiring INEM to proceed with a direct contract and rely on support from the Air Force.

This direct award intended for the “leasing of three aircraft,” with two scheduled to operate from July 1 and the third from July 15, until a date specified by INEM a week in advance.

The contract further states that the operation periods for these three helicopters will end as they can be replaced by the aircraft planned in the contract resulting from the international public tender.

This contract was awarded to Gulf Med for approximately 77.5 million euros for an operation involving four helicopters around the clock until 2030.
