Between April 6 and October 22, the Icelandic airline Play, founded in 2019, will have two weekly routes to Iceland from Porto airport, with prices starting at 79 euros per ticket, after the success of the experimental route in Lisbon.
In statements to Público newspaper’s Fugas supplement, Play reveals that in 2022, 15,840 passengers used the Lisbon-Iceland route, of which about 4,500 were Portuguese.

In statements to Público newspaper’s Fugas supplement, Play reveals that in 2022, 15,840 passengers used the Lisbon-Iceland route, of which about 4,500 were Portuguese.
The airline also wants to attract travelers from northern Portugal and adjacent regions in Galicia and northwestern Spain. Promotional fares for both routes, including Lisbon, which will resume on March 31, also with two weekly flights, start at around 79 euros each way, while the normal average fare is 99 euros each way.
In addition to making life easier for Icelanders wishing to visit Portugal and Portuguese wishing to visit Iceland, PLAY allows Reykjavik to be used as a central hub for final destinations in North America such as Baltimore, Washington, Boston, New York and Toronto.
Additional flights on both routes are already planned for the Easter holidays.
The Icelandic “airline” expects to continue to grow in 2023, after carrying approximately 800,000 passengers to 25 destinations in Europe and North America in 2022.
It also plans to increase its capacity by 77% next summer and add 36 destinations to its menu.
