Jerónimo Martins’ Pingo Doce has launched an online shopping platform, following the termination of its partnership with Mercadão. The supermarket’s new online store offers a comprehensive range of sections, from bakery to fish market, along with a dedicated promotions area.
Previously, Pingo Doce products were exclusively available online through Mercadão.
“Although our collaboration with Mercadão allowed us to offer convenient online shopping, we realized that providing our customers with a full online shopping experience at Pingo Doce was not achievable through third parties,” said Francisco Soure, Pingo Doce’s Director of Innovation and Digital, last week to the newspaper Eco.
The platform is initially available to customers in Lisbon and Porto, with plans underway to expand to other regions in the country.
