The Directorate-General for Budget (DGO) releases today the summary of budget execution in public accounts up to May, following the State’s surplus of 134.8 million euros.
The summary for the previous month highlighted an improvement of 2,111.4 million euros compared to the prior year. In the same month of 2024, a deficit of 1,976.6 million euros had been recorded.
The State’s tax revenue increased by 11% up to April, totaling 17,410 million euros. This rise is attributed to a 548.5 million euro increase from direct taxes, mainly supported by income tax (IRS), and a year-on-year increase of 1,181 million euros from indirect taxes.
Pending payments by public entities stood at 476.2 million euros up to April, a reduction of 15.2 million euros compared to the same period last year.
Compared to the previous month, there was an increase of 81.7 million euros.
The year-on-year evolution was influenced by a reduction in outstanding payments in central administration, excluding health subsector entities (-78.8 million euros), and local administration (-25.5 million euros). However, this was partially offset by increases in the health sector (54.2 million euros), regional administration (32.4 million euros), and Reclassified Public Companies (2.5 million euros).
Regarding the monthly variation, the most significant contribution came from the health sector, with an increase of 81.1 million euros, according to the same information.
