Former ECB President Addresses Journalists
The former president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Mario Draghi, briefly spoke to journalists in English at the Palácio de Belém in Lisbon following a meeting focused on analyzing the challenges facing the European Union. This discussion was based on the report he presented in September of the previous year. “It was a very good discussion, lengthy, interesting, with many questions, and it was a great opportunity for me to explain the report, clarify the complications, and emphasize the need for action following this report,” Draghi stated.
Economic Strategy Highlighted
After the meeting, Draghi emphasized the economic strategy presented by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, titled “Compass for Competitiveness.” He noted that the strategy introduced by von der Leyen “is very much, as she said from the beginning, based on the results of the report.” Draghi refrained from making additional comments to the media regarding the discussions.
