Discussions concerning the Nationality Law, originally scheduled for this week, have been postponed to Wednesday, October 22. This development follows a request for postponement by the Socialist Party (PS), which has since been approved.
The proposed amendments to Law 1/XVII will be reviewed by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms, and Guarantees.
Speaking to the media, Member of Parliament António Rodrigues stated that the Social Democratic Party perceives no “constitutional issues” with the proposal. However, the social democrat mentioned that the government seeks to establish a law that achieves consensus among the parliamentary groups.
