A 36-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for driving without a legal license and possession of a prohibited weapon in the town of Famalicão, in the municipality of Nazaré.
The arrest occurred during a random road inspection carried out in the locality of Casal Mota, where “the driver of a vehicle disobeyed the order to stop given by the Guard’s officers and fled on foot, abandoning the vehicle at the scene,” detailed the Republican National Guard (GNR) in a statement.
The suspect was later intercepted and arrested, according to the note.
A personal security search and a summary search of the vehicle were also conducted, resulting in the seizure of a switchblade knife (illegal weapon) that was concealed inside the car.
The GNR also found that the man did not have a legal license to drive.
The suspect, who had a criminal record for various crimes, was arrested and named as a defendant, and the facts were communicated to the Judicial Court of Nazaré.
This action was carried out by the Leiria Territorial Command, through the Valado de Frades Territorial Post.
