The aim is to establish a joint cooperative with a turnover of 19 billion euros, according to a joint statement.
This move is set to advance the future of the dairy sector, promote the production of high-quality milk, drive innovation, and ensure strong milk prices for farmer-owners, both cooperatives emphasized.
The merger is subject to approval by the cooperatives’ representative councils, with a vote scheduled between June 17 and 18, and must also receive approval from authorities by the end of 2025.
The company resulting from the merger will be named Arla and will be headquartered in Viby, Denmark.
