The week, which began with rain, is closing with sunshine and warmth, a trend expected to continue into the weekend and early next week. Although the return to school is imminent, there is no need to put away sandals and light clothing as temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) forecasts an intensification of an anticyclonic ridge towards mainland Portugal from this Friday until Tuesday, the 16th. This will result in “mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies,” although there might be low clouds and possibly morning mists and fog “along the coast north of Cabo Raso until late morning, lingering in Minho on some days.”

Regarding temperatures, noted by IPMA as “below average for this time of year,” a slight increase started on Thursday, with another “more significant and widespread” rise expected on Sunday, the 14th.

On Sunday and the following Monday, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 30 and 35°C in the South region, the Tagus Valley, and some locations in the North and Central interior, where values will exceed the seasonal average. The hottest districts, Castelo Branco, Évora, and Beja, are forecast to reach 35 degrees.

In the rest of the country, maximum temperatures will be below 30°C, such as in Porto and Aveiro, where thermometers should not exceed 24 degrees. Viana do Castelo will see the lowest maximum, expected at 22 degrees.
