
Property owners, whether they have houses, garages, shops, or other real estate, are required to pay the Municipal Property Tax (IMI) annually. Are you aware of this year’s payment deadlines?
The Tax Authority (AT) has released the fiscal calendar, detailing the following dates:
- From May until June 2: “Full payment of the Municipal Property Tax for the previous year, if it is €100.00 or less, or the 1st installment if it exceeds this amount. For spouses not legally separated or in a civil union, in cases of urban properties used as a main residence, where the domicile is established, the mentioned value applies to the entire taxable amount, even if the property is co-owned.”;
- From August until September 1: “Payment of the 2nd installment of the Municipal Property Tax for the previous year, when the total exceeds €500.00. For spouses not legally separated or in a civil union, in cases of urban properties used as a main residence, where the domicile is established, the mentioned value applies to the entire taxable amount, even if the property is co-owned.”;
- From November until December 2: “Payment of the 2nd installment of the Municipal Property Tax, for the previous year, if greater than €100.00 and less than or equal to €500.00, or the 3rd installment if it exceeds €500.00. For spouses not legally separated or in a civil union, in cases of urban properties used as a main residence, where the domicile is established, the mentioned value applies to the entire taxable amount, even if the property is co-owned.”;
It is important to note that the notification with the amount of IMI due and payment details is sent to taxpayers by April 30 each year, either via postal mail or through the electronic notification system.
