
Lisbon is the district with the highest average prices for simple 95 petrol and simple diesel in Mainland Portugal, while Santarém and Castelo Branco sit at the opposite end of the spectrum with the lowest prices, according to data released by the price comparison platform Kombustíveis on Tuesday.
“The average price of 95 petrol in the Lisbon district, as of April 15, is the highest in the country (1.804€/liter), as well as the price for simple diesel (1.667€/liter), special diesel (1.725€/liter), and special 95 petrol (1.852€/liter), surpassing prices in all other districts of Mainland Portugal,” states a report accessed by Notícias ao Minuto.
Conversely, the district of Santarém leads as the most economical district for filling up the tank, both for those using 95 petrol (1.773€/liter) and for those refueling with special diesel (1.691€/liter, alongside Castelo Branco and Coimbra).
“Castelo Branco has the lowest average price for simple diesel (1.630€/liter) and special diesel. Viana do Castelo offers the best average price for special 95 petrol (1.707€/liter),” the report continues.
The platform further highlights that fuel prices have consistently decreased since January: “For 95 petrol, the national average price fell from 1.721 €/liter in January to 1.678 €/liter in February and 1.668 €/liter in March, stabilizing at 1.662 €/liter in the first half of April. The price of 98 petrol followed a similar trend, moving from 1.834 €/liter in January to 1.775 €/liter this month.”
“Simple diesel also dropped from 1.654 €/liter in January to 1.558 €/liter in February, and 1.537 €/liter in March, with a slight increase to 1.538 €/liter in April. Special diesel reduced from 1.703 €/liter at the beginning of the year to 1.578 €/liter in the current month, while special 95 petrol decreased from 1.778 €/liter in January to 1.747 €/liter in April,” it is noted.
