Doctors’ union recognizes “capacity for dialogue” in the minister

“We know she is a person capable of dialogue and, together with SIM, we managed to reach an agreement that values doctors and introduces a future perspective of improved remuneration and working conditions,” stated Nuno Rodrigues to Lusa.

The union leader indicated that the publication of the new Collective Labor Agreement for Doctors signed with SIM is expected soon, but the union now intends to press for the resolution of other issues, such as the evaluation of doctors.

“Seventy percent of doctors have never been evaluated, and 50% of doctors are in the initial position of their career,” Nuno Rodrigues emphasized, adding that “this has to change.” He called for local health units’ management to effectively apply evaluations to doctors.

According to the SIM secretary-general, Ana Paula Martins is knowledgeable about the dossiers, and the union is confident that “the climate of dialogue will remain and that problems will continue to be resolved” for this professional class and the National Health Service.

The proposal to appoint Ana Paula Martins is included in a note on the Presidency of the Republic’s portal, released after state head Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa accepted the list of ministers for the XXV Constitutional Government presented by the appointed prime minister, Luís Montenegro.

Luís Montenegro and the ministers of the XXV Constitutional Government are expected to be sworn in on Thursday at 6:00 PM, with the state secretaries following on Friday.
