
The mayor stated that as of 3:40 PM, the fire did not pose a threat to houses or any village, with the flames moving towards Alqueva.
The alert for this incident in Pedrógão, Vidigueira, in the Beja district, was issued at 12:23 PM, according to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
As of 2:15 PM, the firefighting efforts involved 119 operatives, 35 vehicles, and six aerial units.
By 3:40 PM, upon a subsequent check of the ANEPC site, the number of operatives had increased to 183, supported by 58 vehicles and the same six aerial units.
Earlier, a source from the Sub-Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of Baixo Alentejo revealed that the fire was burning through a diversified area consisting of pine forest, eucalyptus, and pastureland.
