The investigation conducted by the Military Investigation and Support to Specific Victims Unit (NIAVE) of the GNR in Bragança established that the suspect, arrested on Tuesday, was “inflicting physical and psychological violence upon the victim, his 47-year-old wife.”
During the operation, a detention warrant was executed, as stated in a GNR communiqué.
The suspect has appeared before the Judicial Court of Torre de Moncorvo, which imposed measures including a prohibition from approaching the victim within a radius of 250 meters from her current residence or any future domiciles, as well as from her workplace, with compliance monitored by an electronic bracelet.
He is also forbidden from contacting the woman by any means and is required to undergo a medical evaluation to assess potential alcohol dependency and to follow any prescribed treatment.
The GNR emphasizes that domestic violence is a public crime and reporting it is a collective responsibility.
