The GNR reported the detention of 692 male and 75 female suspects for domestic violence, representing 90.2% and 9.8% respectively.
Regarding domestic violence victims during the same period, the GNR registered 8,746 individuals: 6,328 females, 2,408 males, and “ten of unspecified gender.”
The GNR noted that its NIAVE team received a “significant increase in personnel,” growing from 137 to 187 specialized military staff.
This enhancement addresses the “increasing complexity and demands of domestic violence crimes,” a key focus area for the security force. Additionally, it coincides with the July 1st implementation of a new risk assessment tool, the Ficha RVD-R (Revised Domestic Violence Risk), enabling a more systematic and accurate evaluation of risk factors and promoting effective protective measures.
The updated Ficha RVD-R also considers other vulnerable victims, such as children and the elderly, reinforcing the commitment to a comprehensive approach in combating domestic violence.
The PSP also reported today the detention of 306 individuals in the first half of this year for domestic violence, with 3,404 suspects charged for the same crime.
