The suspect was apprehended by military personnel from the Caldas das Taipas Territorial Post in the municipality of Guimarães following a report.
The Guarda soldiers arrived at the scene to find that the suspect had violently assaulted the victim, his 42-year-old wife, and was caught in the act.
During the police procedures, a modified weapon and 19 rounds of ammunition were seized, according to the Braga Territorial Command’s statement.
The detainee was heard by the Judicial Court of Guimarães and was remanded in custody.
