“Don’t Be a Duck”. There’s a new AI tool to help you on Black Friday.

Consumers Trust’s Portal da Queixa has introduced a new tool incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance safe and informed shopping during Black Friday. This innovation is part of the “#NãoSejasPato” initiative and includes a “Black Friday” tag to increase visibility for complaints registered during this period.

The Portal da Queixa’s new functionality allows consumers to quickly assess the trustworthiness of a brand or product before making a purchase on Black Friday. “This capability aims to provide immediate trust indicators—high, medium, or low—about the searched brand or product, offering a quick overview of key registered complaints, positive consumer experiences, and real-time search trends,” the organization stated in a release.

The “Não Sejas Pato” platform gives consumers insights into the most sought-after categories and brands, as well as the reasons behind frequent complaints. “This initiative is part of the social movement #NãoSejasPato, which was created by Portal da Queixa by Consumers Trust to enhance digital literacy and help consumers avoid scams and make well-informed purchasing choices. The clear goal is to turn information into power, facilitating safer, transparent, and better-informed decisions,” the statement added.

Manuel Castro Almeida, the Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, has requested the Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) to enhance surveillance during the Black Friday period.

Additionally, occurrences marked with the new tag will display an identifiable seal on the Portal da Queixa, making it easy for anyone to recognize that the issue arose during the context of Black Friday. “This marking not only highlights cases related to the promotional campaign but also contributes to informing other consumers about the most frequent issues and targeted brands,” the entity explained.

Pedro Lourenço, the founder of Portal da Queixa, emphasized that this AI investment bolsters the platform’s role as a mediator “between consumers and brands in Portugal, advocating a more transparent and secure consumption ecosystem driven by the real reputation of brands.”

“We have leveraged AI to enhance secure and informed purchases through various indicators, including a brand trust verification barometer that will significantly impact purchasing decisions,” he underscored.
