Don’t be surprised! Social Security has a new website (see what has changed)

The Social Security system has officially launched a new website. This newly introduced portal combines the informational site of the Instituto da Segurança Social (ISS) with the Segurança Social Direta.

“Welcome to the new Social Security portal, which merges the Informative Portal and Segurança Social Direta into a single site, reorganizing content and simplifying information searches,” reads a statement from the organization.

You can access the new site here.

What’s Changed?

“With a modern design and more intuitive navigation, new areas have been created to represent the citizen’s lifecycle, encompassing all Social Security information and services accompanying various life stages,” the same note reveals.

Continuing from the same information, the portal “aims to facilitate citizens’ and companies’ interactions with Social Security through simpler interactions and an increasing number of services available online, enabling requests or personal process consultations without the need for in-person visits.”

This launch was previously highlighted last week, noting potential periods of portal access instability over the weekend due to technical adjustments.

Segurança Social vai lançar novo site na próxima semana (e deixa aviso)

The new site is set to launch next week and is the “result of integration between the current Informative Portal and Segurança Social Direta”. This weekend, periods of unavailability are expected “to ensure a secure technical transition.”

A featured function on the new site is the Social Security support simulator.

In May, Social Security announced the launch of a simulator to determine eligibility for social supports and subsidies. “It’s a new digital tool designed to simplify access to available social benefits information,” the ISS explained at the time.

“With intuitive functionality, the simulator allows citizens to quickly and easily learn their potential social benefit entitlements based on the inputted data, though results are non-binding,” the ISS further explains.

What will you need? According to the ISS, to answer the simulator questions most accurately, you’ll need specific information, accessible here upon starting the process, which takes an average of seven minutes.

“This simulator covers most Social Security benefits. The results depend solely on the data you provide and are not binding,” the agency clarifies.

Moreover, the “benefits presented in the simulation results pertain to the individual conducting the simulation and their dependents,” while “other household members need to simulate separately to determine their own entitlements, such as unemployment benefits.”
