A 47-year-old man was arrested over the weekend in possession of 4 kg of cocaine, the Public Security Police (PSP) reported on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Porto Metropolitan Command explained that the arrest occurred as part of its operational action, utilizing various units, notably Prevention and Immediate Reaction Teams and Traffic Inspection devices.
During this operation, officers identified a driver, a 47-year-old Portuguese man, who appeared nervous when approached during the inspection.
Upon checking the vehicle, it was found to contain 4 kg of a substance suspected to be cocaine, leading to his arrest.
The detainee was brought before the Judicial Authority and was remanded in custody as a preventive measure.
The PSP believes this action delivered a “hard blow to the cocaine distribution flow” and provided a “strong contribution to the suppression of various criminal phenomena that concern society, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to fighting crime, ensuring the continuous safety of populations, and the welfare of our communities.”
