
The Public Security Police (PSP) dismantled a drug trafficking network this week in Beja, in the Alentejo region.
The operation, known as Pelourinho, which involved 80 police officers and began on May 20, resulted in the seizure of over 700 doses of drugs, as well as weapons and other materials related to the criminal activity, and the arrest of 11 suspects.
The seized narcotics included 700 doses of hashish and 65 doses of cocaine. Authorities also confiscated seven canisters of nitrous oxide, 840 euros in cash, a firearm with 13 rounds of ammunition, an expandable baton, a car, several mobile phones, scales, and cutting knives.
The 11 individuals detained are currently being presented to the Beja Judicial Court for their preliminary hearings, where they will be informed of the respective coercive measures.
