Drug trafficking network dismantled in Lisbon. Eight arrested.

The Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) successfully dismantled an organized network involved in drug trafficking and direct sales on Wednesday. The operation took place in the Serra da Luz, Pontinha, and Odivelas areas within the Lisbon district, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals.

In a statement released to newsrooms on Friday, the PSP explained that the operation was conducted under an inquiry process at the DIAP of Comarca Lisboa Norte. The investigation had been ongoing for several months by the Criminal Investigation Squadron of PSP’s Loures Division.

The PSP executed ten residential search and seizure warrants, along with warrants for arrests that were not made in flagrante delicto. The operation resulted in eight arrests, including three in flagrante delicto and five under arrest warrants.

The police seized a total of 3,763.74 individual doses of hashish, 20 individual doses of ecstasy, and 8.95 individual doses of cocaine. Additionally, a submachine gun with a magazine, a shotgun, a modified 6.35 mm caliber gun, an air gun, 62 cartridges of 12mm, 35 bullets of 7.65mm, 26 bullets of 9mm, 7 bullets of .22mm, a ballistic vest, nine mobile phones (one of which was stolen), and €9,888.77 in cash were confiscated. Two precision scales were also seized.

The detainees are scheduled to appear before the competent Judiciary Authority at the Judicial Court of the Comarca of Lisbon North – Loures.
