“During an inspection, you can present documents in the gov.pt app.” What to know?

The Agency for State Technological Reform, IP. (ARTE), on Thursday, November 6, highlighted through a social media post one of the features of the gov.pt application.

“Did you know that during a road inspection, you can present your documents using the gov.pt app?” ARTE begins in its post.

It emphasizes that the application currently offers more than 25 digital documents, including three key ones for road safety: the Driving License, the Vehicle Registration Certificate (DUA), and the Automobile Insurance.

Thus, with the gov.pt app, drivers can present their documents directly on their mobile phones, making the process simpler, faster, and more practical.

And what if the inspecting officer cannot verify in real time the data of the Driving License, Citizen Card, or DUA? ARTE clarifies in the same post that, in such cases, a notice will be issued for the presentation of documents, allowing the driver to present the originals or send them electronically within five days, provided there is no need for seizure.

“No more frantic searches in the glove compartment or panic attacks when realizing the wallet was left at home,” it points out.

At the end of the post, the Agency for State Technological Reform, IP. advises: “Download the gov.pt app and add your road documents to your digital wallet.”
