E-Redes’ remuneration increases by 93 million in 2026

The energy company EDP, which operates the power distribution networks, announced in a statement to the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM) an anticipated revenue of 1.224 billion euros in 2026. This figure includes adjustments from previous years and represents a 93 million euro increase compared to 2025 for the distribution network operation managed by E-Redes, based on regulatory parameters established for 2026-2029.

The Entidade Regulatória dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE) released a proposal for electricity tariffs for 2026 and regulatory parameters for 2026-2029. The proposed changes include a 1% increase in electricity prices for families on the regulated market starting January 1st, translating to an increase of between 0.20 and 0.37 euros on monthly bills, inclusive of taxes and fees.

In a Q&A document accompanying the tariff proposal, ERSE highlighted that “tariffs for 2026 benefit from a lower anticipated volume of production from producers with guaranteed remuneration compared to 2025, and consequently, include the recovery of fewer CIEG [Custos de Interesse Económico Geral].”

The regulator further emphasized that the 2026 tariffs will also benefit from tariff containment measures expected to amount to approximately 401 million euros.

“The combination of these revenue impacts allows for the continued reduction of the tariff debt, which decreases by 508 million euros, settling at 1.081 billion euros by the end of 2026, thereby strengthening the sustainability of the electricity system and stabilizing consumer tariffs,” ERSE noted.

In an additional note, EDP mentioned that the regulator proposes regulated revenues of 47 million euros for 2026 for the last-resort supplier (SU Eletricidade), responsible for providing energy to consumers in the regulated market.

The proposal now awaits a report from the Tariff Council by November 15th, with ERSE set to make the final decision by December 15th.
