EasyJet reported losses but was confident with “strong demand for flights”
The low-cost airline recorded losses of £292 million (€344 million) in the six months of the fiscal year, with results disclosed in May of this year. Nevertheless, at the time, easyJet was confident in generating profits due to strong demand for summer travel.
This loss represents a 13.1% increase compared to the same period last year. In the first six months of easyJet’s fiscal year, until March 31, the pre-tax losses amounted to £394 million (€464 million), an 11.1% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
Operational losses were £369 million (€435 million), a 7.8% increase, while revenue reached £3.534 billion (€4.170 billion), an 8.1% increase.
EasyJet transported 18.2 million passengers in the first quarter of the year, an 8% increase compared to the first three months of last year.
The airline’s CEO, Kenton Jarvis, stated at the time there was a “strong demand for easyJet flights and holidays,” as the airline continues to attract more customers due to “great fares, excellent service, and an unmatched network of destinations.”
“We are successfully executing our strategy to increase efficiency and improve the customer experience both in the air and on the ground,” the executive elaborated.
