The creator of “Meu Herói,” announced on social media in October that the concert “15 anos de mim,” at Lisbon’s iconic coliseum, would be her “first major show in Europe.”
Edmazia Dinis Mayembe, born in Luanda in June 1990, boasts an award-winning career spanning fifteen years since her debut album “Erro Bom” in 2010, featuring songs all written by her.
Her latest work, “Emoções,” comprises 14 tracks, all composed by the singer, including “Karma,” “Alquimia,” “Mamã,” and “Sino Vai Tocar.”
Edmazia Mayembe began singing at the age of eight in a group formed by her older sister, Nádia Mayembe, and João Bambila, frequently performing during her childhood at the Pentecostal Church in the Chicala 2 neighborhood in central Luanda.
She continued her musical studies, and with guitarist Mário Rui, musician Totó, and the Géneses, she founded the project Firmes, which resulted in a self-titled album released in 2008. This project also led to collaborations with other Angolan musical figures such as Kalibrados, Cage One, and Heavy C.
Following the album “Erro Bom,” which includes tracks like “Vou Assumir,” “Não Te Quero Mais,” and “Verdadeiro Amor,” she released “Água e Luz” in 2016, featuring songs written by Matias Damásio, and “Emoções” in 2023.
Throughout her career, Edmázia Mayembe accumulated several awards, such as Best Female Voice by Rádio Luanda and Moda Luanda, and Best Ballad by Rádio Luanda (“Beijinho no Ombro”).
In October, the singer was honored by Angolan President João Lourenço as part of the celebrations for Angola’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
In June 2024, the RDP África program “As noites do Kilimanjaro” dedicated an entire broadcast to Edmázia Mayembe.
