The operation, conducted through EDP Renewables North America, plans to “construct and develop a 225 MWac solar project,” according to a statement submitted to the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM).
The project – equivalent to approximately 300 MWdc – will be located in the state of Wisconsin and is scheduled to commence operations in 2028, coinciding with the completion of the transaction, pending final approval by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
This marks the fourth such agreement established by EDP in the U.S. since 2019, reinforcing what the company describes as the strategic position of the group in the North American ‘green’ energy market via its renewable energy arm (EDP Renováveis).
EDP emphasizes that the deal demonstrates “the quality of its project portfolio” and the “strength of partnerships with major utility companies” in the country.
Additionally, the operation aids in increasing visibility on the anticipated additions to gross capacity and expected cash inflows with asset rotation, aligned with the objectives outlined for the strategic plan 2026-2028.
The completion of the deal remains subject to regulatory conditions and other routine prerequisites typical in such transactions.
