The ‘Energy and Commercial Operation’ component of residential customers’ bills is set to decrease by an average of 4% starting in January, due to improved conditions in wholesale markets and EDP’s commitment to offering one of the most competitive prices in the market, an official from the energy company stated today.
For small businesses, the average reduction in this bill component will be 5%, the same source added.
Although the final impact on the EDP Comercial bill can only be calculated after the regulator’s final proposal on changes to the network access tariff costs—expected by December 15—is revealed, the operator projects an average reduction in the company’s component of 1.1 euros per month.
According to the proposal by the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) presented on October 15, for low-voltage consumers, including residential users, changes in network access tariffs will result in a 3% increase.
In the liberalized market, the final price variation depends on the network access tariffs and the energy component, acquired by each supplier in wholesale markets, along with the respective sales margin, which, in the case of EDP Comercial, will have the announced 4% reduction.
