EDP signs two green financing contracts with EIB (worth 500 million)

These loans, with a maximum term of 15 years, represent the second tranches of potential financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) agreed upon in December 2024, according to the company in a statement to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

The largest portion of the loan, amounting to 300 million euros, is allocated for investment in networks in Portugal and Spain during the 2024-2026 period.

“This is a second tranche of a potential EIB financing of up to 800 million euros for network investments,” explained the group headed by Miguel Stilwell de Andrade.

The second loan, totaling 200 million euros, is a framework agreement intended to fund the development of EDP Renováveis’ wind and solar projects in Spain from 2024 to 2026, it adds.

This agreement represents the second tranche of a potential EIB financing of up to 900 million euros for wind and solar projects, also involving projects in Portugal and Italy.

“These loans align with the Group’s financial policy to extend the average maturity of its debt portfolio, thus enhancing its financial flexibility,” concluded EDP.
