The choirs from Orfeão de Leiria and Ninfas do Lis, Leiria, along with the Mixed Choir of the Academic Association of Coimbra, Coimbra Vocal Choir, and the Choir of Former Orfeonists of the University of Coimbra, are set to participate in a concert by the Italian singer, announced the promoter MOT – Shows and Entertainment today.
According to a statement from the organization, the invitation to the choral groups is driven by a desire to “make this show even more memorable for the city hosting it.”
The promoter aims to “value and engage the community, offering local talents the unique opportunity to share the stage with the world’s most acclaimed tenor.”
In total, over 80 voices will join Bocelli in a special choir, in a performance that will also feature the Orchestra of Beiras.
“In 2021, when we organized Bocelli’s concert in Coimbra, we extended a challenge to local choirs, resulting in a huge success, prompting a repeat of the experience in 2023 at the Meo Arena in Lisbon,” recalls Tiago Castelo Branco, director of MOT.
Quoted in the statement, he explains, “to the existing formation [from Coimbra], we wanted to add choristers from Leiria, giving them the well-deserved experience of participating in this concert. I am sure that this great choir will deliver a memorable performance.”
The initiative aims to “add an even more special dimension to the event, creating a moment of sharing and communion through music.”
