The Portuguese Navy coordinated a search and rescue operation for an 84-year-old British woman who was aboard the cruise ship VENTURA on Saturday afternoon.
The passenger vessel, navigating six nautical miles southwest of Cascais, contacted the MRCC Lisbon to report that a passenger showed signs of a stroke.
Following an assessment by the Urgent Patients Guidance Center (CODU – INEM), a critical medical evacuation was deemed necessary.
“The patient arrived at the Marina de Cascais at approximately 7:15 p.m., where she was subsequently attended to by the INEM team,” the statement noted.
The Navy highlighted that the rescue was conducted in close collaboration with the Port Authority of Cascais and the Institute for Lifeguards (ISN), which dispatched a lifeboat for the operation.
