A 71-year-old man was arrested in Águas Livres, Amadora, on charges of two counts of negligent homicide. The man had an outstanding arrest warrant for serving a sentence following a final court decision.
In executing the arrest warrant, police officers went to the suspect’s residence, where they located him. The arrest was carried out without incident, according to a statement by the PSP.
The elderly man was transported to the Lisbon Penal Institution, where he will serve a sentence of 4 years and 6 months in prison. Additionally, he will be banned from driving all motor vehicles for a period of 3 years.
