An 83-year-old man has been arrested in Amêndoa, Mação municipality, Santarém district, on suspicion of committing crimes involving violence, illegal possession of a weapon, and making threats with a firearm.
In a statement, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) disclosed that the incidents followed previous threats, insults, and stalking directed at his daughter, who lives in a house “adjacent to the suspect’s” and was gifted to her by him in the past.
Investigators reported that the elderly man wanted his daughter to leave the property, leading to a confrontation with her and a sister-in-law.
During the altercation, the suspect used a hunting rifle to damage part of one of the victim’s vehicles and threatened them with the weapon.
The detained individual will now be brought before a judge for a preliminary judicial hearing to determine the appropriate preventive measures.
