
Two elderly men were involved in a conflict on Thursday morning at a nursing home in Fornelos, Fafe. One of the men, aged 91, suffered “some serious” injuries.
The men, aged 78 and 91, shared a room in the facility and attacked each other, confirmed a source from the Fafe Volunteer Firefighters to Notícias ao Minuto. The older man sustained significant injuries to his face and an upper limb and was transported to the Hospital of Guimarães.
The same source indicated that the other man was also taken to the same hospital, showing signs of disorientation.
The alert for the incident was issued at 07:43 AM.
The Correio da Manhã reports that the younger resident allegedly attacked the other with a cane. Meanwhile, O Minho, who initially reported the story, states that the National Republican Guard (GNR) documented the incident and that the nursing home administration contacted the families and launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of the aggression.
